HELPING YOUTH OVERCOME CHALLENGES

For the cost of a coffee, you have the power to change a young person’s life. Your spare change will spare our young people a life of hurt, isolation and vulnerability.

Youth Diversion has been helping children, youth and families in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington overcome challenges by providing programs and services that target behaviour, substance use, schooling, trauma and conflict with the law. Through our seven programs and services, 1,400 young people every year and their families are provided direct care to help mitigate the challenges of adolescents and to teach and reinforce the skills necessary to experience success.

If you have donated to Youth Diversion in the past, you can be proud of the fact that you helped  Roger secure a positive adult role model. Alexis was able to see a substance use and addiction counsellor. Brian achieved success in education and Sherri escape a dangerous situation.

You have the chance to make your donation dollars double thanks to Susan Creasy from Susan Creasy Financial INC. who has offered a matching gift of $10,000 to help us grow our Youth Diversion Sustainability Fund.  This fund was established as an endowment fund at the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area by Brad French and Alliance Wireless to ensure Youth Diversion has access to much needed sustainable funding for now and into the future.

As an endowment fund, under the careful management of the Community Foundation, every dollar donated is invested and the annual income provides a reliable source of annual income to support our programs.

Did you know:

  • When you invest in prevention, $10 is equal to $100 and $100 is equal to $1,000.  Until the end of April your donation can be doubled thanks to Ms. Creasy.
  • The average cost to provide our programs and services is approximately $2.45 per day.
  • Almost 50% of the time, the difference between a successful young person and an unsuccessful young person is the presence of one positive adult role model.
  • 1 in every 8 school-aged youth in KFLA received support from Youth Diversion last year.
