AGM 2020: Forty Five years and counting, our awards recipients

We celebrated this years award recipients during our AGM over ZOOM. It was a different celebration this year, we missed presenting everyone with their plaque and handshake. None the less we want to make sure to congratulate and celebrate all the achievements and amazing work all these recipients have done for our agency. Thank you to everyone!

Our awards went out to Aba Mortley, who received our Nick Bala Distinguished service award for all she does both for Youth Diversion and the entire community. Thank you Aba, we hope to continue to see you fighting for all the youth we work with at YD.

Geanina Circei, who received our Andrea VanBlaricom Award for Volunteer of the Year. She has been an amazing volunteer with deep ties to helping out in our SNAP classroom. Geanina’s efforts continue to go above and beyond her volunteer duties for our youth and agency. Thank you Geanina for finding your way to us.

To our 2 staff who have hit a milestone this year, first to our Volunteer Manager Jackie Franklin who has now been with our agency for 20 years. She is the second longest staff to remain with Youth Diversion. We wouldn’t know what our agency could look like without you Jackie. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for your volunteers. Second, we have our Kairos Substance Use Counsellor Jaymi Hayward who is celebrating her 5 years with our agency. Jaymi is an amazing, dedicated and passionate advocate and educator in her field. We are so fortunate to have her in our community and in our agency to be a constant support and voice for all her clients and the community.

Sadly we are having to say goodbye to two of our Board Members as their term around the table has come to an end. We wish to thank the dedication and hours of work put forth by Kerri Brockman and Chris Dreifelds. The agency you leave us with today might look different than 6 years ago when you both started. Kerri as our president, the leadership and guidance you have provided our Executive Director and the remaining Board members will resonate for years to come. As our treasurer Chris got to learn more about finances than he ever imagined.

Our Heather Lynne Wells was given to Isabelle Pardy this year, good luck with your schooling. We look forward to you going on to represent our community. Best wishes Isabelle.
