As Joyce moves into retirement, I don’t just want to say congratulations—I want to pause and reflect on the incredible impact she’s had on all of us.
For students, Joyce showed up with empathy, care, and honesty. By being willing to share her own vulnerability, she created space for healing, learning, and growth. The connections she built will ripple out long past her time here.
For staff, Joyce was a problem solver, advice giver, and confidant. She always seemed to know when to step in, when to listen, and when to push us forward. Many of us leaned on her wisdom and kindness more times than we can count.
For me personally, she was a partner and a friend. We tried out bold, sometimes out-there programming together, made mistakes, laughed about them, and always came back stronger. Joyce filled in where I lacked, and somehow we could read each other’s minds and jump in seamlessly. One moment that stays with me is from our last training together: I was fumbling to recall a passage I wanted to share, and Joyce quietly handed me a printed copy, smiling as she said, “You said you wanted to read this.” That was Joyce in a nutshell—thoughtful, prepared, and always making sure others had what they needed.
Joyce, thank you for all the care, energy, and heart you’ve poured into this work. You leave behind a legacy of compassion, collaboration, and courage. Myself and Youth Diversion will miss you deeply, but we also celebrate this new chapter and wish you every joy in retirement.
With gratitude and admiration

On her lunch break, Zoe stopped by @kingstoncommunitycu's BBQ in support of the @foodsharingproject
She smiled for pictures but left disappointed that no burgers or hot dogs came her way. Thanks KCCU for supporting the fabric of our community! #YGK #foodshare #locallove
