Youth Diversion's MEND program hosted the LDSB Restorative Community of Practice this week — a coalition of elementary educators committed to building classrooms where every child feels safe, seen, and connected. Because that's what learning actually requires.
This work isn't about managing behaviour. It's about embedding empathy, accountability, and genuine relationship-building into the everyday fabric of school life — so students don't just succeed academically, but grow into people who know how to show up for themselves and each other.
They gathered, connected, shared — and left with renewed purpose and a clearer path forward.
The vision? Every elementary classroom becomes a thriving community. A place where the social and emotional groundwork for a child's whole life is laid with care and intention.

We started our food pantry in October as many young people would come to our office and share with us when they last ate and staff wanted to do something about this. Since October, our pantry has supported over 250 clients which includes over 40 families. A huge shout out to @loblaws_midland_kingston (1048 Midland Avenue, Kingston, ON, Canada) @kingstonfoodbank Merryck Hillier, the Hwy 15 Food Basics and the countless others who have dropped off food donations.
As you can see, the need is still there and we are turning to you to help us fill the shelves again. We are accepting non perishable food items and cash donations in support of our pantry. To make a donation please use this link https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/15953

✨ What a great evening! ✨
Youth Diversion was excited to host a Youth Café led by the Unnamed Youth Project. Our youth had the chance to come together, share their ideas, answer thought-provoking questions, and use their voices to help make a difference in our community.
A huge thank you to the amazing staff at the Unnamed Youth Project for facilitating such a meaningful event. We’d also like to thank the Bayridge Secondary School Culinary Class for preparing a delicious dinner for everyone tonight! 😊
We are so proud of our youth for their participation, teamwork, and willingness to create positive change.

Youth Diversion is most grateful to the @cfkingstonarea for their grant in support of Empowering Young Minds - our weekly drop in for young people. Over the past year, we supported over 60 youth and provided another 230 young people with opportunities to be part of workshops and trainings. When you invest in prevention, good things happen. #prevention #EmpoweringYoungMinds #ygk
