The C.A.R.E. initiative is a new component of the Youth Diversion Program.
The C.A.R.E. facilitator’s role is multifaceted, with a focus on victim services.
- The facilitator will ensure that the victim’s concerns are addressed and needs met.
- The facilitator will meet with all victims of youth crime referred to the Youth Diversion Program, encourage their participation in Youth Court Committee meetings and provide on-going information and support.
- The facilitator will research best practices regarding victim assistance for Youth Diversion staff, assessing past and current practices and providing recommendations for improved processes.
- The facilitator will also provide training sessions for staff and volunteers regarding victim sensitivity, and for youth regarding the development of victim empathy
