Board members and staff are overwhelmed at the support our Queen's University community provides to our youth.
Over the past several months groups have been spending countless hours assisting the organization to continue to provide a level of service that our youth deserve.  These include:

CREO Solutions is a non-profit business made up of group of some of the brightest students from the School of Business at Queen's University.  They provide consultative services to businesses, and have taken the lead in enhancing Youth Diversion's public image, and have kickstarted our fundraising strategy.

QPID or the Queen's Project on International Development is a student-run organization operating out of the Queen's Engineering Society.   For the second year, these students are working with our youth to stimulate more awareness of the global problems that our generation faces.  Using fun and excting activities as a platform, our youth learn about the field of engineering, and get exposed to other young people who take an interest in the betterment of our world.

The Queen's School of Medicine, through their Office of Global Health have engaged a group of medical students with the youth we serve.  The Med students are working our our youth to improve their understanding of health issues such as nutrition and healthy sexuality, and are also opening their eyes to possible careers in the health sciences.

Queen's Non Profit Gateway, through their Board Leadership Program have provided bright young minds to critically assess and support our Board of Directors for the past 3 years.  Sitting  as Board members, these students get to know the workings of the Board, and then provide developmental support to the Board on many different issues.

Queen's School of Kinesiology and Health Studies had students come in and assess the work environment, ensuring our staff are healthy and well at work.  They performed a professional and thorough ergonomic assessment, with recommendations that will be implemented in the new year.

And this is on top of the incredible number of Queen's students that volunteer each day with our young people!!

Overwhelming is an understatement, and you all have our deepest gratitude for your commitment to the work we do.

Three Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) students were successful in their efforts to win $5,000 for Youth Diversion as part of the YPI program of the Toscale Casale Foundation.  The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative is described as follows:

The mission of the YPI program:

To provide secondary school students with a hands-on experience through a strong academic philanthropy program which gives them the skills to assess community needs and make grants to grassroots charitable organizations meeting those needs. Our program will empower young people to actively participate in the development of their communities, engage them as dedicated problem solvers and volunteers. Our program will promote a sense of responsibility, respect and a commitment to building compassionate communities.

The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is unique in its reach and its impact. (Grade, Year) 9 and 10 students receive an education like no other and they play a direct role in making a financial grant to a local, grassroots social service organization. YPI is incorporated into the curriculum of participating secondary schools and teaches students the fundamentals of philanthropy. Can it help students feel more connected to their communities? It most certainly can. Does it help support local, grassroots, social service charities? Just ask YPI students - it most certainly does

Thank you and congratulations  to Austin, Claire, and Lizzie.  You truly reflect the  principles of compassion and philanthropy!
