Information for Parents
REBOUND is a ten- week cognitive skills program for Promising youth ages 12-17. With the help of trained volunteers, REBOUND is able to provide youth with an opportunity to develop the skills to overcome the challenges of adolescence.
REBOUND presents the different skill lessons using various methods of learning. These activities inspire positive experiences and active participation among the youth. Many hands on activities are used throughout the program, as well as videos and special guest speakers from all walks of life.
The aim of the REBOUND method is to teach and reinforce basic cognitive skills that will enable young people to get started on sound decision making, the development of a sense of personal responsibility, goal setting and the building of a healthy self image.
Parent participation and contact with the Coordinator are strongly encouraged throughout the program. Follow up is done with the youth and families 6 months after the program is over to check in on how things are going with the youth and to find out what skills the youth have been utilizing that they learned from REBOUND.
